Edelweiss is inspired by a true story discovered within the pages of a WW2 soldier's journal. We catch a glimpse of the compassion that lies within the hearts of those forced into a life of survival during devastating times, when a nurse saves the life of a valuable hostage, only to see him taken away for an inevitably brutal interrogation.

The cinematography, setting and especially the performances bring us to this sheer moment in time; beautifully, simply and poetically. As with a true poem, we are given a glimpse of a moment in the lives of a handful of people enduring the trials of war, in which one look from a solider to another speaks volumes. This is a beautifully big film in a little package.”
